Previous ECC Events

Many of our events are an end-result of the ECC Annual Service Auction, a Community fundraiser held (usually) the second Saturday of March, that provides scholarship money for education. Its mission is to assist in providing the opportunity of a Catholic high-school education for inner-city grade-school students. Currently, our beneficiary school is Immaculate Conception High School, Montclair, NJ.

This auction is also one of the major Community social events of the year, complete with a different theme each year--with music, decorations, and Community members in theme-related costume adding to the wonderful energy and spirit of the event. Community members get to know one another better throughout the year by selling and buying of services from one another (examples: Hosting a dinner party, baby-sitting, or leading a day hike in a state park).

Below, you'll see examples of our auction events - check back for more throughout the year as events take place!

Emmaus Christian Community Members Enjoy a Christmas Brunch!

An annual event, the Community Breakfast, organized by Peggy O'Black and Ellie Reddington, brings members together for food and conversation during the busy, Christmas Season.

On Nov. 16th, members of ECC provided a Thanksgiving dinner to families housed by The Elizabeth Coalition for the Homeless in Elizabeth, NJ.

Members served turkeys with all the fixins...enough to send each family home with leftovers for another Thanksgiving meal.  Additional leftovers were distributed the next day to clients at St. Joseph Social Service Center.

THE NOT READY FOR SHRINE TIME PLAYERS presented a western show: “Redemption” which featured music and a story written and directed by Janet Maulbeck.

Players were Diane Gallo, Jody Pfeiffer, Dennis Oblack, Marge Dukes and Carl Maulbeck. Audience members were recruited as “extras” since the show’s premise was the making of a western movie.

A DJ provided music for the performance and the dancing which followed. Needless to say, the play was a stitch and everyone got into the act!

Emmaus Christian Community Lucky Bidders Enjoy a Garden Tour and Party!

A group of ECC members recently participated in a tour of a native plant garden and patio party.  Participants had fun with sampling yummy appetizers and summer beverages while learning some native plants and the importance of attracting pollinators to gardens and yards.  The annual Service Auction includes many different events and services that members bid on to raise funds for scholarships for students to attend Immaculate Conception High School in Montclair.

Members enjoy giving to this important cause while enjoying community through social events.

August Barbeque Auction Event!
